Alice Wessen

I have decades of experience with the commercial and non-profit financial world, as well as the heart and experience of being a social worker with at risk youth.

My family has lived in Altadena for over two decades. My two teenage kids attend Pasadena public schools. They grew up in the PUSD system and are both AP kids. Of course we still need to ride them both to get their homework done!

My commitment is to bring people together, raise funds to benefit our community especially in the area of fire and emergency preparedness, and communicate and listen to the needs of our community.

Examples of my results:
• President of the Chaney Millard Fire Safe Council.
-Partnered with Altadena Meadows Fire Safe Council, LA County Fire Dept and Millard Canyon Cabin Association. Won a grant of nearly $200,000 for needed fuel reduction and brush clearance in northwestern Altadena.
• Moderator of the Chaney Trail listserve, one of the most active listserves in Altadena
• Member of the Altadena Land Use Committee
• Host of annual Chaney Trail Block Party
• Created award winning language arts program for young learners, partnering with UC Berkeley and Bay Area Writing Project
• Worked with the Honorable Judge Nash of the Los Angeles Superior Children's Court to start "A New Beginning for Children and Families in Los Angeles County" to bring together the multitude of agencies in the Los Angeles County region who deal with child & family welfare, abuse, and foster care
